EditiNG

Got a single piece to polish for a submission, a first-draft manuscript, a website for your business, or whatever else? I love to support nonfiction writers as your friendly editor! We will

  • Discuss your voice, intentions, goals, readership.

  • I can help you polish an essay or another piece for submission or publication.

  • Rework your entire web copy for your business (coaches and founders are my primary clients)

  • Scope book projects or prepare book proposals.

  • Full book services:

    • I offer full manuscript reviews at different levels of depth, which we can discuss when we talk about your needs.

    • After a review, I can edit your manuscript in a structure and organization pass, and / or a line edit, usually totaling 3-4 full passes. I make sure to include you at key points along the way, and I can guide you through processing feedback.

      • For deeper guidance and coaching through this process, along with support in your practice and the development of your craft skills, and more, you might be interested in coaching. Many of my coaching clients started out as editorial clients.

I’ve been doing this for a really long time. I take your voice, perspective, and goals with your writing very seriously—while making sure you have a lot of fun and learn something! I have a unique editing style that is deeply engaged, specific, questioning, and explanatory. If I think a change should be considered, I tell you why, and I leave open possibilities for you to work from. I believe the details—word choice, punctuation, pacing—stand in for the whole mood and intention of a piece, and I’m able to hold a microscopic look and the whole picture together for you. It’s really hard to share your project with someone else, and I promise to hold your trust safely. You’ll probably get everything you need to know about my editing skills and what it’s like to work with me from what my writers have said.

Arrangements for writers who are just looking for my editorial help—async work, script reviews, single manuscript passes, etc—are bespoke, and range in pricing based on the scope and timeline we decide on, and your ability to pay. Fees can range from $500 for a single essay edit, to $6,000 or more for manuscript work.

Single meetings—to talk through a book’s structure, a project idea, a block you’re facing, or something else—are $250.
