(Let’s change that!)

Read the newsletter.

In You Are a Writer, I share writing prompts and exercises, craft notes, stories from the paper universe, and thoughts and musings on the meaning we make of and through writing. My hope with YAAW is that it helps you develop your own philosophy of writing, from writer’s ethics to the meaning of style, while developing your skills and finding new writing topics to explore.

Join the club.

I host a free writing club—an anti-workshop—on the final Friday of every month. Club format usually consists of a writing exercise, a share and discussion, a poetry or prose reading, and a discussion about the work. It’s incredibly fun and you will ALWAYS be welcome. Many writing club members have returned each month since the beginning.

Join us by putting your name and email in this Google Form! You’ll get a monthly email with the link, and sometimes a follow-up email with resources or reminders from our meeting.

Writing club discussion topics and exercises are usually inspired by what has appeared that month in YAAW, so sign up.
